  5. Kelly says:

I tried using the restore file that I got from one website that is worded the same as what you used in the video. What I got was a “firmware file is not compatible” message. I am using an Ipod Touch 3rd Gen. Where would I find the compatible 3.1.2? I did notice that the one I used had a file size of 304mb while yours was 297mb.

Does it have to be a certain version of Itunes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you get an error message saying not compatible you probably downloaded the wrong generation firmware. If you have a 3g ipod touch the firmware file name will start with iPod3,1 if ipod is 2g firmware filename will start with iPod2,1 and ect.

  20. sam says:

does this thing work or not?!?

  21. kristen says:

I keep trying, and it keeps telling me my firmware isn’t compatible with itunes and I know I used the right software. itsn’t there an easier way? blackra1n come up with a quick hit of the button again? Help…… please?

  22. anthony says:

the file is no good if you are running windows. it is a DMG file which only the Mac will read.

  23. Terry-in-kent says:

Followed the links on site and downloaded 3.2.1 firmware for iphone 3g and three times I attempted to sync with itunes but kept on getting messages that could not be restored due to unknown error. Then just tried the blackra1n jailbreak program and it worked! Many thanks

  24. Dan says:

Hate to be an ‘also’ but I get the “incompatible” message as well. My touch is only 2 days old (8GB, 3rd Gen, Model MC … now with 3.1.3).

Initially when at 3.1.2 Blackra1n would not take … blank screen, continuous reboot, no pretty face. After many tries the touch finally cratered altogether. Had to restore to 3.1.3. Works again but cannot downgrade to 3.1.2. Get the error message when hit “Restore” after selecting file.

Have done much reading and have now determined that only model MCs that were previously JB’d can be JB’d again. Have yet to see a “virgin” touch jailbroken.

  25. mike says:

difference from video shown. my itune want to restore the latest factory setting.Should I?

    Guys,

Unless you saved your phone on cydia previous to upgrading to 3.1.3 there is currently no way of downgrading at this current time.
I have found this out the hard way (being stuck with 3.1.3) and after research I found out (sorry but the i-phone says no) thanks apple!!!

  29. Vinny says:

So should i try to do this or not? I have a touch 3G MC Model, when i did the dbu mode, i couldnt install the 3.1.2 firmware. it wouldnt show up on the list, and when i download it, it comes out as a .zip, not
    .ipsw or watever it is.

  30. Vroum says:

Almost the same problem… Frimware not compatible plz help me

  31. Chris says:

  33. Philly Boy says:

Hey wen i got to the part after you hit restore while hitting the shift key i couldnt find the file labeled 3.1.2 in order to downgrade my iphone what do i have to do

  34. Paye says:

My restore can’t execute properly….I continue to get error code 1015, and all the tutorial video says about the error code is “WHEN YOU GET A 1015 ERROR WHEN RESTORING READ THE DESCRIPTION”. I’ve done that and the resolution accordingly is to reset back to latest factory setting. Not much of a help, cuz following that will lead u back to getting 3.1.3, which is what I’m not trying to have,

Any help on how I can fix this?
